FileMaker Addict
Tim Dietrich over at FileMaker Addict has breathed new life into the blog by revising the format to include all things pertinent to FileMaker developers. It’s great as Tim is a saavy developer who looks at things a little differently in FM and such things usually show in the way he discusses and ruminates on it.
In one of the first new posts he recently put up, he pointed me to FMPug which has its own vast list of a FileMaker wishlist. It’s always interesting to see the ideas bubbling under developers’ heads and this list certainly shows it. It’s not mediated or monitored by FileMaker Inc as far as I know, but it’s certainly worth perusing.
Best of luck Tim!
Thanks for the kind words, Denis!
My goal with the “new and improved” FileMaker Addict is to discuss topics that aren’t being covered elsewhere in the FileMaker community. For example, I recently posted some advice on how we can better protect the data in our FileMaker databases — a topic that I plan to expand on very soon.
I’m also hoping to bring some of the knowledge and experience that I have with other relational databases (such as SQL Server, Oracle, and DB2) to the FileMaker world. There are things that people do with those databases that we should consider doing with FileMaker. And another hot topic that I’m hoping to cover soon is Web publishing with PHP. There’s a lot to cover… It’s just a matter of finding the time to do so.
Thanks again!
