A slew of things are happening this week and I think are worth noting.
- First and foremost the FileMakers developer conference is happening right now in Miami. I didn’t go, for many reasons. Make no mistake, I would have a hard time showing up at any conference sessions given the Miami backdrop. You can read all about it in FileMakes press release here.
- Subsequently a whole host of announcements have been buzzing about in the FileMaker world, including:
- Inspector 1.5 has been released (more on this to come)
- ICE, from iSolutions (http://www.isolutions-inc.com/ice/)
- Web Service Plugin, from FMNexus ( www.fmnexus.com )
- New versions of Inspector, Account Manager, and Dragon Web Survey from FMNexus ( www.fmnexus.com )
- FmPro Layout Diff, from .Com Solutions, Inc. ( http://www.dotcomsolutionsinc.net/)
- SyncDeK Universal, from World Sync, Inc. ( http://www.worldsync.com/ )
- Web service plug-ins from Digital Fusion, Ltd. ( www.digitalfusion.co.nz )
- Careof MacWorld.com, there’s a great tip on how to monitor file system activity on your OS X machine. You can read it here.
- What does your inbox say about you (or your desktop for that matter)?
- The fellow geeks over at Wordpress.com have managed to add the feature to the next version of Wordpress that Flickrshow is thy free savior.
- FireFox crop circles: “We are not alone, in our love of Firefox”
- If you ever wanted a great tutorial on how to install Subversion on OS X, here you go. As for using Subversion with Xcode, the happy user peak vs. featuritis (sadly, something most VCR manufacturers have never learned)
- “Give users what they actually want, not what they say they want. And whatever you do, don’t give them new features just because your competitors have them!”
- This has to be one of the best web-developer resources I’ve found on the web yet, appropriately titled Vitaly Friedman’s Web Developer’s Handbook
- Lastly, if you’re like me and continuing to fall in love with your Canon Digital Rebel XT, then you’d appreciate the photo below. It’s of my nephew in his peak diving board condition (he’s 5 btw). The crispness of the action, the water, and everything else is just ridiculous frankly:
