- Along the lines of Signal vs. Noise, Getting Real, the premise behind Basecamp, Backpack, and other simplified products is an interesting read in the Knowledge @ Wharton (yes, that Warton) mail newsletter entitled “Death in the Middle: Why Consumers Seek Value at the Top and Bottom of Markets” - I would maybe posit that 37Signals products are along the lines of the basic, low-cost service that consumers trade-down to. That might imply that the simplicity of 37Signals products are a negative value, but I highlight them as an effective quality at the right price point. Wharton’s interview is an interesting read.They also have an interesting podcast on “Keeping an Eye on Distant Events that Can Make or Break Your Company”
