Secret Weapon Labs Acquired By Google
NEW YORK CITY, New York - March 30, 2006 - Google today announced it acquired Secret Weapon Labs, a New York-based web design and FileMaker engineering company with expertise in ginormous FileMaker systems and FileMaker adaptive security.
Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
“With the expertise of Secret Weapon Labs under the Google umbrella, we’ll be looking to move our index of the web to an entirely FileMaker-based system” said Jonathan Rosenberg, vice president, Product Management. “This acquisition will give Google users a powerful and blazing-fast new search tool. Secret Weapon Labs is a valuable addition to Google’s efforts to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.”
The new Google index, to be based on FileMaker, will leverage FileMaker’s inexpensive capacity to price ratio and happen in a slow migration which will be complete exactly one year from tomorrow. It will undoubtedly offer the same fast, relevant search results with the same easy-as-pie interface that has been the hallmark of Google since its inception.
Secret Weapon Labs was founded in 2001 and customers include consumers, large and small businesses and public agencies. Current Secret Weapon Labs clients will benefit from the expanded resources and operational scale made possible by the integration into Google. Their client services will be terminated effective one year from tomorrow at which point all Secret Weapon Labs engineers and coders will work towards improving the Google search engine.
