SWL Almost Making Money via Yahoo Publisher Network & More…

On the road to making millions, SWL is about to turn a major profit in blog revenue. Get ready for it… if you want to know how to make a whopping $87.89 then do what we do!!!

I do jest, of course, at the small amount that is trickling in from the Yahoo Publisher Network which I used to replace the Google AdSense ads. For more graphical purposes, I have also started using Chitika Minimalls ads [your click supports SWL] which are sprouting up all over the web (see below) in place of Amazon Associates, which I found to be less than interesting given the negative eye-sore aspects of having advertising in blogs. The Chitika ads also can be given a series of paramters of search queries to limit exactly what should be shown to users. The ad below was passed the terms of “iPod Video, FileMaker Server 8, Apple G5, Nikon D200, Canon Digital Rebel XT, Apple MacBook”. I find these ads to be some of the most compelling and have clicked on them at other sites because of some interesting deals I’ve found.

I’m putting up some of the numbers about this because I’m sure that several other bloggers out there, look to balance the blurry medium of not harassing users with ads and being able to pay their bills (hosting and such) by blogging. I’m not in it for the money. I love design, Filemaker, “process fulfillment”, Apple, the web, wordpress, and technology in general and I’m simply distilling, along with all of you, the wealth of information that can come across the screen and the seemingly most salient, of which, can sometimes go unnoticed.

With that being said, YPN seems to work and is working towards paying A bill ;-) as are the Chitika ads. Reading ProBlogger.net certainly helps. Darren (the blogger behind ProBlogger) does a genuine and honest job of assessing the good, the bad, and the ugly of blogging and, lucky for him, he seems to make good dough doing so!

That being said, I’m not fond of divulging finances nor of boasting of moneys. This small space online is not carved out to buy a Porsche (though a new MacBook would be nice), but more so to interact with you and elevate SWL, FileMaker, design, and maybe even carve out a little bit of history… but there will have to be a lot more work to even think about history.

Update
For the record, I think the YPN revenue would be a bit greater if the ads were targeted better. The Taft wordpress theme hosted on this site may be a major source of incoming links, but it has nothing to do with some of the ‘relevant’ ads showing up for buying a car in Taft or Taft Real Estate. Speaking of which, where the hell is Taft?

  3. Congrats on the blog income! You’ve got some great content and info here, and you obviously put a lot of thought and time into it. Its blogs like this that by all means deserve to generate income, and I’m glad to hear that money is starting to come in.

I was wondering: In what time frame did you make the $87.89? Was that for January?
