37 Signals Shows Commitment To Education Market

Basecamp37Signals and their blog Signal vs. Noise is certainly one of the more interesting blogs around. Fueled by their very buzzed about products (you KNOW what they are right?), the blog receives a fair amount of exposure and feedback thus making it a vibrant and worthwhile discussion forum.

Frankly, I’m inspired by their success. It shows the power of the web/internet/whatever-you-call-this-thing-making-me-blind. Similarly, I’m often inspired by a self-made billionaire like Oprah, most especially because of her fervent commitment to teachers, education, and the important role that both play in our society. I’m a product of the NYC public school system and unashamedly so. That is, until you consider the resources of most private schools vs. public schools, the disparity never ceases to amaze me.

That being said, the fellows at 37Signals have decided to donate the Basic plan of their Basecamp software service for academic users. Quite simply: That Rocks!

Kudos to them for helping out, being thoughtful and altruistic enough to make such a statement, and while it certainly won’t break their bank to do so (at least it shouldn’t), they certainly deserve a round of applause for their step forward.

Nice job guys, I salute you!
- Denis

PS: I completely agree with their impression of Jon Hicks design that tells you when it take you home.
PPS: Google Analytics blows currently. I want to be impressed but haven’t had the chance.

  1. How do teachers find out about the basecamp promo?

I only have one friend that is a teacher but what about the other teachers?

  2. Rob,

Other teachers and really any teachers for that matter can follow the email instructions on the 37Signals website. Follow this link
