How to install Taft
I’m noting a number of search queries hitting the site asking “How to install Taft”. I imagine fairly new Wordpress users are uncertain as to how exactly one uploads and selects a theme. I’ll write a more length post on the matter, but just to get the new users up to speed, Taft works just as any other Wordpress 1.5 theme. To install:
- First off, you need to be running Wordpress 1.5 - if you’re not, I really can’t help you.
- Next, you need an FTP client and then the Taft .zip package which can be found to the left under the ‘Taft 1.0 For Wordpress’ page.
- Unzip the .zip file
- Next, use your FTP client and upload the unzipped Taft files to the flider entitled “themes” which is in the flider “wp-admin” which is with all of the files at the very base of your Wordpress flider
- Next, login to the Administration area of your blog. Up at the top, you have a link entitled “Presentation” - click it.
- You should see Taft listed next to the other themes you have already installed, most likely just Classic and Default. Hit the “Select” link to the far right of the row with all of the info on Taft
- That’s it !!!

I didn’t have a problem installing taft using wordpress…my problem is I have the font you used, but it’s not showing up on my site. I’m wondering if I need to rename it, or if possibly you are using a different font in the family.
Foggy,
Honestly, I’m not sure. The CSS for the theme simply refers to “Zapfino” - try editing those lines to something different. I assume you’re on Windows and I’m not familiar with font management on Windows, most especially when it comes to PostScript vs. TrueType and file extensions and how that may play into it. My apologies… Ask away if you have any ideas that I maybe able to help you with ir if you find a bug I’m not thinking of.
