Internet Brilliance: RBDocs.com

The basis for this post is a bit older, but nonetheless, it was interesting enough to warrant adding the REALbasic category (REALbasic being REAL Software’s version of an object-oriented BASIC programming language which compiles for Mac, Windows, and Linux)

Wikis are on of those things generated out of Internet idealism: they’re basically a free-content system that any user and accordingly, because most every Wiki is open to any user of the internet, they tease with the possibility of producing a sweet honey comb of information with all the efforts of the numerous worker bees. For a great example, see www.WikiPedia.org.

Well someone, actually George Ellenburg, decided it was time for the REALbasic community to have a Wiki of their own and the potential for something such as this is tremendous. With all of the various experiences of the RB users strewn about various emails and websites, something designed to centralize the knowledge and experiences with the RB product is a tremendous asset to the budding community of developers. REAL Software already maintains an excellent mailing list for users and coders alike, but, again, the knowledge communicated and dispersed is never categorized and not easily accessible, other than the search feature provided by REAL Software.

ROCK ON GEORGE!! The RB repository you set up will start slow but I have no doubt it will grow and serve to be as useful to the community as RBgarage.com and even REAL Software’s site (there are, of course, other great sites but these are the two I use most frequently).

  1. While perusing the weblogs for RBDocs tonight I stumbled across the REFERER entry from this URL.

All I can say is WOW. Thank you.

    I’m humbled. Truly.

Thanks for such a rave review and accolades. Here’s hoping RBDocs does take off and will fulfill the growing need to find a central place for documentation for REALbasic.

    Thanks again!
