Which FileMaker toolbar is better?
I’m posting links to two versions of basically the same toolbar for an update to a FileMaker-based product that is in development. Which one works best in your opinion? CLICK ON EACH VERSION TO SEE A LARGER VIEW. Any thoughts are appreciated…
Version 1

Version 2

The second one.
It’s more clear and nice GUI.
Thanks Zeppy. I presented this set of options to two users and the more advanced FileMaker and web-savvy users like the second set while the more novice users liked the first set saying they liked knowing where the exact clickable area is, and the size of the text, as well as the fact that “it doesn’t look like IE”. It’s funny to see how IE’s negative connotation as a web browser transcends into other areas of a user’s experience.
I’d go for the second one, the first looks like its a GUI from a java application or something, where as the second just looks natural and pleasing to the eye.
What’s interesting to note here, is that a number of older users (age wise) don’t necessarily agree. The small icons and lack of definitive areas for mouseclicks has them more confused initially. But apparently, once they get over the brief learning curve, they like it more.
I’ll post more on how the users find this.
