FileMaker 10 is faster

So my interest was piqued when one or two FM developers I admire were commenting on how much faster FM 10 is. So I decided to run some unofficial tests on a 400mb database with multiple tables and some indexed and non-indexed fields.

Thus far, this is what I’ve found:

Simple sort:

  • FM 9: 5 seconds
  • FM 10: 3.6 seconds

Non-indexed find

  • FM 9: 10 seconds
  • FM 10: 7 seconds

Any ideas what the speed differences from 8.5 to 9 were if any?

Not off the top of my head. I did have an old FileMaker file that clocked processing on different machines. It may be worth digging up just to measure processes between different versions of FM.
