The FM10 Feature NO ONE is talking about

So here I am browsing through a solution I’m looking to update to FM10, when I see a new script step.  And it has me salivating and no one, not even the ebullient FM bloggers over at SixFriedRice, is discussing it.  It seems to effectively be a kind of way to tie a UNIX cron job (actually just a timer) to a script aka Install Script Timer. Ummmmm, hello?  Best trigger & script step ever?!

The ability to run scripts at timed intervals without bogging down the system with ugly hacks, 3rd party software, plugins, unix foolery, or other techniques that can make FM generally unstable is something long overdue.

More to come on this as I explore it, but this is ideal for making sure a cleanup script or some other programmable routine runs every couple of hours and could possibly check for the time when it runs and work close to a cronjob in Unix.

More to come…
