In the spirit of 37Signals “[Screens Around Town]” occasional posting, I recently came across some designs and discussions that caught my attention.

Easy Price Quotes
While researching shopping bags for a promotional event, I came upon an innovative pricing table at AbsorbentPrinting.com. Rather than having to bust out a calculator, or click and submit various quote request forms, the site has a nice table that features a mouseover highlight. As soon as you mouseover a box, the total adjusts accordingly on the top right.

The Evolution Of A Header
I stumbled on Garrett Dimon’s site to find an excellent discussion of what goes into developing and polishing a stellar header. And while this is exceptionally good as a web header, it’s also good as a FileMaker header. This is a great read and one that is exceptionally well documented, I highly recommend it.

Advanced FileMaker “Predevelopment”

Last but not least, Matt Petrowsky at FileMakerMagazine.com published a recent series of beginning videos on laying out a solid foundation for a well-executed FileMaker solution. Noted as going from Zero To Awesome (yes, it’s a cheesy name – but I know what he means), it’s chock full of good starting tips on how to approach, strageize, code, and deploy a modern and effective FileMaker solution. I recommend reading/viewing the movies and downloading the associated files.
